Nepali translator of Russian literature Shrestha no more

KATHMANDU: Radio presenter and the translator of Russian language into Nepali Krishna Prakash Shrestha has passed away.

Shrestha passed away in the course of treatment at a hospital in the capital city of Mosco on Monday.

He had been suffering from other complications after he tested positive for COVID-19 a month ago.

Born in 1995 BS at Chunnikhel in Kathmandu, he was the first Nepali student to go to the Soviet Union to pursue his higher studies.

After completing his Master’s Degree in Journalism from Moscow State University in 1963, he had worked as a Nepali newsreader on Radio Moscow.

He has translated numerous literary works by world renowned Russian litterateurs into Nepali language and Nepali literary creations into Russian language.

He is survived by two daughters.
