Enraged by party action, UML leader Nepal to spearhead campaign against PM Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said he will spearhead a nationwide campaign against Prime Minister and party chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Leader Nepal has called on the party cadres to take to the streets after Oli suspended him for six months saying that his clarification sought by the party was not satisfactory.

Nepal has said Oli does not retain the right to take action against him since he has already dissolved the central committee (CC) and announced a general convention organizing committee.

Nepal further said he will launch a nationwide campaign against the activities carried out by Oli violating the party statute.

Similarly, leader Bhim Rawal has described Oli’s action as ‘autocratic and arbitrary’. Taking to social media, Rawal condemned Oli’s action saying that it is against the party statute since he unilaterally dissolved the CC to form the general convention organizing committee against the party statute.

Reacting to the party action, UML leader Shankar Pokharel, however, has said this action will do good both to the party and other leaders.

The CPN-UML on Monday took action against senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal for carrying out activities against the party’s interests.

Stating that the clarification letters submitted by the two leaders earlier to the UML Chair Oli was not satisfactory, they have been suspended for six months from the party membership and all committees in the party.
