UML leader Pandit refuses his nomination as central member

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Lal Babu Pandit has refused the post of central member, to which he was nominated in the party’s 10th general convention.

Pandit, who had been eying the post of office bearer, was nominated as a Central Committee member in the ongoing convention. Expressing dissatisfaction with his nomination, Pandit announced that he would resign from all executive posts and rather stay in the party as an organized member only.

Former Minister Pandit took to social media Monday to make the announcement that he would not remain in any of the executive posts. “Resigning from all executive posts from today, I wish all the comrades elected from the tenth general convention a successful tenure,” he wrote.

The leader said he would now remain only an organized member of the party. He added he didn’t aspire to be a central member in the first place and had informed the party, early on, in this regard.

“I do not want to file nomination for the post of office bearer as a rebel candidate. Therefore, I will work as an organized member by retiring from the executive role of the party,” he said.
