Nine former Chairs of Nepal Professors’ Association demand resignation of Chief Justice Rana



KATHMANDU: Nine former presidents of the Nepal Professors’ Association have demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

Issuing a joint press statement on Friday Former presidents of the professors’ association have pointed out that incumbent Chief Justice Rana has failed to save the dignity of the Supreme Court and independent judiciary.

Prof.Dr. Kamal Krishna Joshi, Prof. Keshava Nanda Giri, Prof. Bhupati Dhakal Kamal, Prof.  Kapil Shrestha, Prof. Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Prof. Rameshwar Upadhyay, Prof. Dr. Binod Kumar Shrestha, Prof. Khagendra Bhattarai, Prof. Gunanidhi Neupane demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Rana.

They remarked that it is the duty of the people in power to safeguard judiciary and retain people’s trust in it.

“To preserve the people’s faith and reputation of an independent judiciary, the Chief Justice should resign from the post immediately,” the statement signed by nine former Presidents said.
