Writ filed against 15 Supreme Court judges for boycotting bench



KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed against 15 Supreme Court (SC) judges alleging that they have violated human rights by affecting the hearing on cases like habeas corpus and the hearing on the people in detention.

According to SC sources, a writ petition has been filed against 15 judges for seeking the resignation of the Chief Justice by boycotting the benches of the Supreme Court.

Advocates Krishna Prasai, Kirtinath Sharma Poudel, Sabhyata Nepal, Nakul Timalsina, Shivaram Thapa and Netra Prasad Mainali have registered the case against 15 judges.

The writ petitioners have argued that the SC judges have to be sued for affecting the hearing on serious issues like the habeas corpus and the issue of detention, the rights enshrined by the Constitution as the right of every citizen to justice as an inviolable right.
