Mahara murder case: Suspects remanded to 8 days in custody

BAITADI: The district court has extended the police custody of four persons arrested in connection with the murder of a trader Kamal Singh Mahara by eight more days.

Four persons—Ram Bahadur Madai of Surnaya-5 in Baitadi district and Shankar Singh Mahara, Harish Singh Mahara and Ram Bahadur Mahara, all from Surnaya-4—were arrested from the district on September 24.

Kamal Singh of Surnaya-4 was found dead at Sanserimadau on September 23. He sustained wounds in the head, chest and other body parts. He was murdered with an iron rod, according to police preliminary investigations.

One of the arrested admitted to the killing of Kamal Singh with an iron rod under the influence of alcohol. All of the arrested have been kept at the Area Police Office, Patan. Investigations are underway, said Inspector Rajesh Shahi.
