SC orders to coordinate with Department of Archaeology while demolishing Devkota’s house

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issued an interim order to the stakeholders to demolish the house of poet laureate Laxmi Prasad Devkota only after coordinating with the Department of Archeology.

A division bench of Justices Anil Kumar Sinha and Bam Kumar Shrestha issued such an order. However, the written text of the SC’s is awaited.

SC’s Spokesperson Baburam Dahal said that the interim order was given to demolish the house of Devkota only after managing the goods of archeological importance since the house could have materials of archeological importance, thereby needing adequate coordination with the Department of Archeology.

The Nepal Academy is preparing to construct a new house by demolishing the house of Mahakavi Devkota located at Maitidevi in the capital city. RSS
