CPN-Unified Socialist’s PP meeting underway



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the parliamentary party (PP) of CPN-Unified Socialist, led by Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal is underway in Kathmandu.

According to sources, the newly formed party is holding the meeting to choose its PP leader, chief whip and whip in the parliament. The meeting is underway at Lhotse Hall of the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor.

Former Prime Minister and Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal is likely to be elected as the PP leader.

This is the first meeting of the parliamentary party of the Unified Socialist Party the party got formal recognition from the Election Commission (EC).

The Unified Socialist has 23 lawmakers in the House of Representatives and seven in the National Assembly.

In addition to them, the party source claimed that four more lawmakers who could not verify their name at the EC are also in the party.

Lawmakers Som Prasad Pandey, Tulsa Thapa and Maya Gyawali and Sharada Devi Bhatt could not verify their name as lawmakers of newly formed Unified Socialist as their names had not been included in the first list sent to the EC.
