SC postpones hearing on petition filed by two ex-Maoist leaders

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has postponed hearing on a writ petition filed against party action by two former Maoist Center leaders, who joined the UML, Thursday.

The Maoist Center took action against Lumbini Provincial Assembly (PA) members Dhadiram Neupane and Dinesh Panthi for defecting to the UML. Neupane was elected from the Maoist Center in Rupandehi and Panthi from Gulmi. The two lost their PA membership following Maoist Center action.

They had moved the court seeking reinstatement of their PA membership on July 22.

A bench of Justice Deepka Kumar Karki was scheduled to hear their petition Thursday, however, the SC could not hear the petition today and postponed it for a later date.

In the writ, the two stated that the Maoist Center took action against them in violation of party statute and Constitution of Nepal.
