Ruling NC holding office-bearers’ meeting even today

To dwell on active membership row

KATHMANDU: Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is holding an office-bearers’ meeting in Budhanilkantha today.

To be held at the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha at 2 pm, the meeting will be focus on the issue surrounding the active membership row, sad Prime Minister Deuba’s personal aide Bhanu Deuba.

According to him, the meeting to be participated by office-bearers and former office-bearers will also dwell on the preparations of the 14th General Convention. The General Convention has been slated for September 1-4.

The officer-bearers’ meeting convened on Wednesday had given one more day to the taskforce to sort out the work after it could not finish it within the given deadline.

The probe committee led by central member Ramesh Lekhak is now doing homework on the active memberships.

The committee had submitted the report to party President Deuab on Tuesday and the office-bearers’ meeting had returned the report to the committee itself with an order to accomplish the task within 24 hours. That is why the office-bears’ meeting has been called today afternoon, said Bhanu Deuba.

Senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel has been reiterating that the General Convention should be held on time despite President Deuba’s request to postpone the date on account of internal organizational hassles and COVID-19 pandemic.

There have been disputes on the active memberships in as many as 121 wards across the country. The probe committee is submitting the report today.
