Ruling alliance holding meeting today

Likely to expand cabinet



KATHMANDU: The ruling alliance is holding a meeting to discuss various issues including cabinet expansion on Thursday morning.

Top leaders of Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML (Nepal-Khanal faction), Janata Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM) are holding a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 8:30 am today.

The meeting will discuss cabinet expansion, various appointments among other issues, said Purna Bahadur Khadka, general secretary of the NC.

He also said that the cabinet would be expanded today as the issue of sharing of ministerial portfolios will also be discussed in the meeting.

The meeting, which will be attended by top leaders of the coalition, will also discuss other government activities, according to the Secretariat of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Earlier, in a meeting held on Wednesday morning, it was agreed to expand the cabinet as soon as possible and bring a minimum common program of the government.
