1,629 MW additional electricity generation in upcoming fiscal: Finance Minster Rijal



KATHMANDU: The government has estimated that 1,629 MW of electricity will be added in the coming fiscal year.

Unveiling the budget of fiscal year 2021/22, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said by completing the construction of various projects including, Upper Tamakoshi, 1,629 MW of electricity will be added to the national grid.

He said the government expected to meet internal demand even in the dry season after 228 MW from Upper Tamakoshi, 11 MW from Rasuwagadhi, 56 MW from Sanjen’s two projects, 37 MW from Upper Trishuli 3B, 40 MW from Rahughat, 102 MW from Madhyabhotekoshi and 155 MW from private sector projects, totaling 1,629 MW of electricity will be produced in next fiscal year.

The budget has also announced the construction of various new hydropower projects.
