Heavy rainfall forecast in four provinces as cyclone ‘Yaas’ continues

KATHMANDU: With the impact of cyclone ‘Yaas’, still continuing, rain is occurring in various parts of the country today.

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the cyclone ‘Yaas’ is gradually weakening while surging towards the north-west region of India.

However, the low pressure system created while making landfall has resulted in generally to fully cloudy weather causing moderate rainfall amidst thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the MFD has cautioned people stating that a heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Pradesh 2, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Pradesh.

The rainfall continuing since the last three days has caused landslides in various districts of Gangaki Pradesh.

The landslide triggered by incessant rains has posed a risk to the houses of Ashok BK and Rabi Lal BK in Jamaini municipality-10.

The water level in rivulets and rivers has increased due to the incessant rains posing risk to the people living near the banks of the rivers.

Flood Information Center based at Kawasoti Municipality-16, Nawalparasi East has said the rain is occurring in areas including Kawasoti, Devchuli, Bardaghat since the last 12 hours.

Over 109 millimeters of rain were recorded in Bardaghat on Friday.
