Preparations on to treat former Queen Komal Shah with plasma therapy



KATHMANDU: Norvic Hospital in Thapathali is preparing to treat former Queen Komal Shah, admitted to the hospital after contracting COVID-19, with plasma therapy.

Currently, the hospital is searching for plasma donors, according to hospital sources.

Earlier Thursday, she was shifted to ICU after her oxygen levels dropped. High oxygen flow was provided to her. Her oxygen level was around 87 earlier in the day.

Oxygen levels of 94 to 100 are generally considered healthy. If the oxygen level of the coronavirus infected is constantly falling below 90, it is considered critical.

The former royals were admitted to the hospital on April 24.

Former King Gyanendra and his wife Komal Shah were confirmed of the coronavirus infection on April 20 after returning from India. The Shahs had left for India on April 8 at the invitation of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2021 Special Committee Haridwar, India.

The royals had taken the ‘Royal bath’ on April 12 and had entertained meetings with various political and religious leaders during their stay at Haridwar.
