Political play in Gandaki not over: NC leader Koirala

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sekhar Koirala has said the political play in Gandaki Province is not over.

While giving an interview in a radio program Thursday morning, Koirala said the fate of Gandaki Province government was not yet secure. “Voting will show what will happen there, though for now, it seems Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung has won the game. However, voting in the future is certain to happen,” he added.

On Rastriya Janamorcha’s role in the Gandaki Province Assembly (PA) session Wednesday, he expressed suspicion about the disappearance of lawmaker Khim Bikran Shahi. His absence in the PA Wednesday prompted the opposition to suspect a kidnapping attempt, however, he was found admitted to a hospital in Pokhara. Eventually, the session canceled indefinitely.

He questioned how could a person who tested negative on PCR test, conducted by PA Secretariat, be PCR positive at the hospital. He said no political party was ethical these days in Nepali politics.

He claimed ill-practices and ‘money-power’ were infesting Nepali politics at all levels, from center to provinces.
