Over 300 vehicles penalized for violating prohibitory orders in Valley



KATHMANDU: Over 300 vehicles have faced actions for breaching the prohibitory order that came into force in the Kathmandu Valley since Thursday morning.

According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), as many as 300 private vehicles including motorcycles have been taken under control for violating the prohibitory order.

The seized vehicles have been kept in the holding centers and will be released only at 7 pm today, said the MTPD.

Police have tightened vigil to successfully implement the prohibitory orders which came into force since 6 am today to curb the new variants of COVID-19.

The checking has been tightened after the incidents of prohibitory order violations increased, said SSP Ashok Singh, the chief of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.

Singh said Nepal Police personnel have been deployed in 128 places and a joint security squad including traffic police in 44 places to make the prohibitory order a success in the Valley.
