Closed session of UML’s 10th general convention likely to start at 8 pm

KATHMANDU: The closed session scheduled for 10 am on Sunday to select the CPN-UML’s next leadership from the party’s 10th general convention, being held in Chitwan, has been postponed till 8 pm.

UML leader and party office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang said that the closed session would be held at 8 pm. Earlier, it was said the closed session would start at 7 pm. However, the closed session could not start even at 7 pm.

In the closed session today, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli is set to propose the names of 301 central members, including 19 office bearers.

Delegates to the general convention are likely to approve Chair Oli’s proposal as yesterday’s closed session gave the right to nominate official through consensus to the party chair.

Chair Oli was busy in discussions all day long to accommodate the demands of various leaders so that the next leadership of the UML would be finalized through consensus.

Oli had struggled throughout the day to finalize the list of 301 central members, including 19 office bearers.
