UML Chair Oli’s dominance ends democracy in the main opposition: NC leader Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa has remarked that UML Chair KP Sharma Oli’s dominance had duly ended the democratic practice in the main opposition CPN-UML.

Addressing the inaugural program of the NC Kathmandu District Working Committee in Kathmandu on Sunday, leader Thapa said that KP Sharma Oli’s dominance had begun in the UML.

“Democracy has officially ended in the UML since yesterday. All that is left now is Oli’s dominance,” he said, referring to the the closed session of the UML’s 10th General Convention in Sauraha, Chitwan, which entrusted UML Chair the authority to nominate office bearers and central members of the party.

Alleging that Oli was on the path taken by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Thapa said Oli would also crush all his opposition.

Thapa warned that the UML, which had lost democratic practice in the 10th General Convention, could move towards destroying democracy in the country as well.
