UML’s decision to authorize Chair Oli to nominate office bearers creates uproar in closed-door session

SAURAHA: Even though the majority of the leaders gave their consent to authorize party Chairman KP Oli to nominate office bearers, the closed-door session witnessed uproar as party Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal, and others objected to the decision.

After giving the exclusive right to nominate the Central Committee members to Chairman Oli, a discussion took place among the leaders.

After the closed session endorsed the legislative amendment proposal, the main task of the General Convention was to select the future Central Working Committee.

Chief of the Organization Department Bishnu Poudel proposed to give the right to Chairman Oli through consensus.

Poudel’s proposal was supported by the General Convention delegates.

Leader Bhim Rawal immediately protested against Poudel’s proposal, saying that his right to be a candidate should not be snatched away.

After that, there was a debate among the leaders on whether to give Oli the upper hand or not.

In the closed session, Rawal said, “Consensus is fine, but the method should be in accordance with the rules.”

There was uproar in the hall after Rawal started protesting against the proposal to give authority to Oli.

Oli and Rawal were also engaged in bitter conversation after the decision, party insiders said.
