KATHMANDU: The Bibeksheel Sajha Party has passed a resolution on abolishing federalism and holding referendum on secularism with the party’s two-thirds majority.

The Central Committee of the party decided to adopt the concept paper ‘Changing Course: Nation Above Notion‘ recently made public by party Chair Rabindra Mishra.

Bibeksheel Sajha Spokesperson Sharad Raj Pathak, in a statement, said the document was passed by a two-thirds majority in the zoom meeting of the Central Committee.

Bibeksheel Chair Mishra, a few months ago, floated the concept paper, in which he has advocated for abolition of federalism by restructuring and strengthening local levels and referendum on secularism.

The document was unanimously approved by 91 out of 124 members of the Central Committee, the statement read.

However, Coordinator Milan Pandey’s faction of the party did not attend the Central Committee meeting convened by the Chair Mishra on Thursday. The Pandey faction has called a Central Committee meeting on Friday.
