No discussions regarding impeachment against CJ Rana in coalition parties: Nepal

KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the ruling coalition has not held discussions regarding impeachment against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana so far.

Ruling Unified Socialist Chairman Nepal said so during a press conference organized in Dhangadhi on Thursday morning at a time when voices are being raised that Chief Justice Rana should step down.

“We have not discussed impeachment against Chief Justice Rana. I am busy with party activities. The meeting of the ruling alliance has not been held so far,” Nepal told journalists.

Earlier, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had publicly demanded the resignation of all Justices who issued verdict in favor of the reinstatement of the House of Representatives (HoR).

Leader Nepal has termed Oli’s statement as “unlawful and unfair”.

Supreme Court Justices have been boycotting benches as part of their protests against Chief Justice Rana stating that they will not sit in the benches unless Rana resigns.
