Law Minister Karki says UML is not serious on resolving parliament deadlock



KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has urged UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli to end the stalemate in the parliament.

Meeting the UML Chair at his residence in Balkot, Minister Karki tried to woo UML on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur on Tuesday.

Citing that inaction in the parliament raise concern over the significance of parliament as institution, Minister Karki urged former PM Oli to end the deadlock in the parliament.

“I proposed to discuss the issues in the sovereign parliament and end the obstruction of the parliament,” Karki said after the meeting.

However, Oli sent Minister Karki assuring to talk on the issue later, UML Chairman Oli’s abstract way of dealing the issues he disliked.

Since the beginning of the Ninth Session of the parliament on September 8, the UML has been obstructing the Houses alleging that Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota induced the party split by not taking timely action against the defecting 14 UML lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal.
