80 percent infections last month comprised of Delta variants of coronavirus: CCMC

KATHMANDU: The COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) has alerted that 80 percent of the total confirmed cases of coronavirus had delta variants last month.

Issuing a notice on Saturday, CCMC said that nearly 80 percent of total cases reported in July were caused by the Delta variant.

It has also mentioned that unvaccinated people are highly vulnerable to coronavirus infection of late.

“About 97 percent of the people affected from COVID-19 are unvaccinated,” CCMC said, adding, “Physicians state that the symptoms for the new variant are same, but younger people seem to get it quicker.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has listed Delta as a variant of concern. More adults are at risk from this variant.
