NC’s Poudel faction holding internal discussions following deal with PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: The Poudel faction of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is holding internal discussions following the deal reached with President Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday morning.

The discussion started at the residence of former general secretary Prakash Man Singh in Chaksibari this morning.

Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, former general secretary Singh, leader Dr Ramsharan Mahat, Central Members Bal Bahadur KC, Dr. Minendra Rijal, Dilendra Badu, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Nuwakot district president Jagadishwar Narasimha KC, Dhading district president Ramesh Dhamala, Kathmandu district president Sabuj Bania and Bardiya president Sanjay Gautam are also present in the meeting.

“President Deuba is positive about the demands being raised by the district chairpersons,” said a leader of the Poudel group, adding, “We have agreed to soon resolve all these issues and participate in the convention process.”

A meeting of the Poudel faction held on Friday morning decided to meet with Deuba to discuss active membership, district presidents’ hunger strike and convention. Leaders of the Poudel group had reached Baluwatar on Friday evening.

The Poudel faction had demanded that ward conventions be held in all wards across the country on the scheduled date and the list of active memberships made public during the meeting with Deuba.

The NC’s Central Election Committee has made public the active membership list of 48 districts as of Friday.
