UML’s Khanal-Nepal faction lawmaker says, they will join Deuba govt

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML’s Khanal-Nepal faction leader and lawmaker Met Mani Chaudhary has said that his group will join the incumbent government.

Speaking to the reporters at Sahana Memorial Foundation Building, Buddhanagar on Wednesday afternoon, Chaudhary said that the meeting of the lawmakers who voted Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in the parliament would make decision to join the government.

The meeting of 19 disgruntled UML lawmakers is being held at in Buddhanagar.

Of the 22 UML lawmakers who gave a vote of confidence to PM Deuba, 19 are attending the Wednesday’s meeting.

A staunch critic of party chairman KP Oli’s ‘arbitrary’ decisions, Chaudhary claimed that Chairman Oli will be dismissed from the post of party head soon.

“We will remove Chairman Oli by securing a majority in the parliamentary party,” he said.

Earlier, Dr. Bijaya Poudel, attending the coalition parties’ meeting, had informed the leaders of ruling parties that Khanal-Nepal faction will not join the government.

However, CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been striving hard to include the faction to the government.
