Chief Minister Raut alleges federal government does not want the provinces to prosper

JANAKPURDHAM: Chief Minister of Province 2 Lal Babu Raut has accused the federal government of not wanting the development of the province.

Addressing the Zoom interaction on Energy for Development, Chief Minister Raut accused the federal government of regarding themselves as the ‘Maharaja’ at the center and others as nothing significant.

He recalled the province government’s agreement to generate 200 MW of energy in the country two years ago, and said that the project could not be taken ahead due to lack of coordination from the federal government.

“At a meeting of investors in Kathmandu two years ago, we reached an agreement with a Canadian company to generate 200 megawatts of energy in Province 2, but the federal government did not allow it,” Chief Minister Raut said.

He said that although many industries could be run with a small investment in the province, nothing was done as the federal government did not want the province to prosper and become self-dependent.

He said that along with the discriminatory policy of the federal government, the bureaucracy is also corrupted and does not want to work without money.
