HoR dissolved after reinstated House failed to ensure political stability: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the decision to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) for the second time was taken after reinstated HoR failed to ensure political stability even as three months passed since its reinstatement.

In his address to the nation Friday, Oli said that he was compelled to go to the polls after dissolving the HoR. He claimed that all the procedures were fully complied with as per the decision of the Supreme Court (SC).

“The HoR was dissolved last December after it became ineffectual. The February 23 decision of the Supreme Court was fully implemented.

In the meantime, despite my efforts to run the HoR for a full term, three months of experience after HoR reinstatement did not seem to provide political stability,” Oli said.

The SC had ordered the reinstatement of the parliament that was dissolved by PM Oli for the first time on December 20, 2020. The PM dissolved the parliament for the second time on the night of May 21, 2021.
