Five police officials injured after armed gang attacks police post in Dharan

DHARAN: Five police personnel were injured after a gang of people wielding sharp weapons attacked a police post at Dharan in Sunsari district.

According to police, the armed gang arriving on six motorcycles attacked a police post based in front of Dharan Sub Metropolitan City-15, Banjghara, injuring five police personnel including an Assistant Sub Inspector.

The irate gang barged into the police post and attacked the police personnel indiscriminately at 7 pm Thursday after Prashanna Limbu, a local, went to the police post to lodge a complaint saying that he received a threat, said DSP Gyanendra Basnet of Area Police Office, Dharan.

The gang of people attacked the police personnel while they were trying to save Limbu.

ASI Suman Dahal has sustained critical injuries. He is undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

Police said they are investigating the case who threatened Limbu and for what reason.
