CPN (Masal) warns against alliance with Madesh-based parties

KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Masal) has warned the government against accepting the demands of Madesh-centric parties.

Masal General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh has urged communist forces to refrain from forming an alliance with the Madeshi parties. He rather stressed unity among communist forces for leading the government.

“The demands of Madeshi parties, such as an amendment to the constitution, will help in the secession of Tarai region, infringe upon national integrity, unity and indivisibility, and shrink the authority of local levels, among others,” says a press release issued by the party.

To avert such situations, the party has called for unity among the communist forces.

The press release further says that the rights of naturalized Nepali citizens would be the same as those obtaining citizenship on the basis of descent if the government agrees to the demands of Madeshi parties.

It also urges the factions that have slip following the Supreme Court’s reinstatement of parliament to forge new consensus and emerge as a united-front to lead the government instead of working with the Madeshi parties.

The party alleged that Madesh-based parties were trying to gain an advantage of the current political turmoil.
