As many as 80,000 taps in Kathmandu Valley getting Melamchi Drinking Water today



KATHMANDU: Kathmanduites are getting drinking water from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project from today.

The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) has plans to supply 170 million liters of water to its 80,000 clients.

The KUKL said that it has filled four reserve tanks in Anamnagar, Mahankalchaur, Minbhawan and Khumaltar from the water treatment plant in Sundarijal.

It added that people in Anamnagar, Mahankalchaur, Chabahil, Baneshwor, New Road, Thapathali, and Maitidevi will receive water supplied from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

According to KUKL, the daily demand for water in Kathmandu Valley stands at 430 million liters.
