Komal Oli to sue Raghuji Pant for defamation

KATHMANDU: Singer-turned-lawmaker Komal Oli is planning to sue Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader of Dahal-Nepal faction Raghuji Pant on the charge of defamation.

Lashing out at former minister and NCP leader Pant for his comment that some people have cashed high posts cashing in on their body parts, NCP Oli faction lawmaker Komal Oli has shared her plan to sue Pant.

Speaking at a program organized by NCP Prachanda-Nepal faction, former Minister Pant had said that some people have achieved high post by using wrong means, and some have cashed high posts for their glamor irrespective of whether they contributed to the party or not.

“The leaders who have been working in the party for long disregarding their family life failed to be chosen for election whereas some few who never worked for the party have been made lawmakers for their glamorous appearance and seductive songs,” Pant said in the program hinting at Komal Oli being chosen for lawmakers by the party leadership.

Vexed by the slanderous comment, Oli has criticized lawmaker for his ‘gender-biased and defaming’ remarks and has claimed that Pant must have got some deficiency to make such remarks.

Prachanda-Nepal faction and Oli faction of the ruling NCP have come to blows against each other, of late.
