United Nations congratulates Nepal govt for successful COVID-19 vaccination drive



KATHMANDU: The United Nations in Nepal extends hearty congratulations to the Government of Nepal for the successful launch of the COVID-19 vaccination drive.

To the health workers, sanitation workers, security personnel, and other front-liners who are set to receive the vaccination as part of this first phase, we thank you for your relentless courage and commitment to providing essential services to children and families across Nepal throughout these challenging times, UNICEF said in a social media post.

More than 9,000 Nepalis got vaccinated against coronavirus as Nepal launched the vaccination drive on Wednesday.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Jageshwor Gautam shared that the Covishield vaccine was administered to 9,084 persons across the country.

The government has planned to administer the vaccine to 430 thousand people.
