Entrepreneurship essential: Former PM Khanal

KATHMANDU: Former prime minister and senior leader of CPN-Unified Socialist Jhalanath Khanal has said socialism could be achieved by developing entrepreneurship in the country.

Khanal said so during a discussion on ‘contemporary capitalism and socialist movement in Nepal’ in the capital Saturday. The discussion was organized by Foundation for Critical Discourse.

Socialist economy is impacted by the globalization, he said, stressing the need for elevating people’s livelihood. He was of the view that socialism could be made successful by increasing investment in agriculture, forming capital and developing technology and managerial skills.

According to leader Khanal, it is time for scientific socialism and no movement could be possible in the absence of revolutionary principles. On the occasion, central member of CPN-Unified Socialist Ashesh Ghimire, CPN leader Dharmendra Bastola and Dr Khagendra Prasai viewed that national productions could be increased with capital formation and mobilization of resources.
