NC concludes district convention in 33 districts

Poudel goes strong in 17 and Deuba in 16 districts



KATHMANDU: The results of the 33rd district convention of the ruling Nepali Congress making preparation for the 14th general convention have been made public.

According to the party’s Central Election Committee, conventions of 19 districts have been held in the second phase. The convention of 14 Himalayan districts took place in the first phase.

Out of the results made public in 33 districts, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel faction is strong so far.

NC sources claimed that Poudel faction has won 17 district chairpersons whereas party president Sher Bahadur Deuba faction has won the chairmanship in 16 districts.

According to the Election Committee, the results of three more districts were made public by Friday morning. Accordingly, Bishnu Rai in Khotang, Raju Thapa in Syangja and Himal Dutta Shrestha in Palpa have been elected as chairpersons. All three are close to senior leader Poudel’s faction.

The district chairpersons elected from Deuba and Poudel factions are as follows:
