Continue efforts needed to fully implement Constitution: Speaker Sapkota



KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Sapkota has stressed continued efforts to implement the Constitution as it was an achievement of a long struggle.

While receiving a memorandum submitted by the Inter-party women Alliance here in Federal Parliament Building today, Speaker opined that positive and constructive pressure was needed at different times.

He reminded that the Constitution had some special features which reinstated dissolved parliament two times.

He also said an all-party meeting could be held after holding consultation with the Prime Minister regarding table the bills in the parliament.

Speaker Sapkota gave assurances to try to address genuine issues raised by the Alliance.

The Alliance chair Kalyani Rijal urged the speaker to initiate to include women while expanding the Cabinet and appointing different state organs and bodies.

The memorandum has asked to address gender-based violence and ensure equal representation in all sectors.
