KATHMANDU: Spokesperson for Lumbini Province government Baijanath Chaudhary has said the government would seek a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly (PA).
While making public the decision of Lumbini provincial cabinet meeting Tuesday, Minister for Economic Affairs and Projects Chaudhary said the government would seek a vote of confidence to quash the opposition parties’ accusation that the government led by Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel in the province was in the minority and hence unconstitutional.
Lumbini government Spokesperson and Minister Chaudhary said the provincial government would be unaffected despite Upendra Yadav faction being legitimized as the official Janata Samajabdi Party (JSP).
He also refuted claims that the UML — ruling party in Lumbini — had hidden JSP provincial lawmaker Purmati Dhenga Magar, saying the government did not engage in non-parliamentary ploys.
Meanwhile, the provincial government also approved Lumbini’s strategy to end child marriage and decided to endorse the Provincial Sports Development Regulations-2021, said Spokesperson Chaudhary.
