Arun III Hydropower worker succumbs to beating injuries



SANKHUWASABHA: A worker hired for the Sankhuwasabha-based Arun III Hydropower Project, who was severely injured in a physical assault that took place a couple of days back, died last night.

The deceased has been identified as Basanta Shahi, 38, from Tilagufa Municipality-4, Kalikot district.

The District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha said Shahi breathed his last amidst the treatment at Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital. He had got deep cuts on this head and body parts in the attack and was referred to Biratnagar.

Site contractor of Patel Engineering Company, Arjun Singh, 50, who is also from Kalikot, allegedly hit site supervisor Shahi with a hammer on the head alcoholic stupor on the night of June 25.

The accused in the crime is in police custody and is being interrogated, the Office said.
