KATHMANDU: A Standing Committee meeting of the ruling CPN-UML is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
The meeting has been repeatedly postponed as of late.
The latest political developments and the internal issues of the party are the agenda of the meeting, according to UML office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang.
The meeting is likely to discuss the current political developments, party statute, and the general convention, among other issues.
The party has already initiated the groundwork for the General Convention.
UML Spokesperson Pradip Gyawali said that since the ninth general convention of the CPN-UML had provisioned the statute convention, Article 13 of the party statute states that the statute general convention should be held between two general conventions.
Top party leaders have been engaged in finalizing the statute general convention.
The tenth general convention of the CPN-UML is scheduled for November.
UML leader Bhanubhakta Dhakal, who is also a member of the organization department, said preparations are being made to hold the statute convention before the general convention.
