Nepalis in US donate Rs 500 thousand to flood victims in Sindhupalchok



KATHMANDU: In a gesture of benevolence, the Nepali community in the United States of America has donated over Rs 500 thousand to the flood victims in the district.

The amount donated by 35 people in the US was collected at the initiatives of Dil Bahadur Shrestha of Thangpalkot and Ram Krishna Shrestha of Melamchi.

A team including Ram Krishna’s daughter Sujata Shrestha handed the assistance to Mayor of Melamchinagar, Dambar Aryal.

Receiving the donated amount, Mayor Aryal said the donation would be used in the management of the victims while urging continuation of such help in the days to come.

Of the donated amount, Rs 77,000 has been handed to Chair of the damaged Radio Melamchi Dambar Rasik for its repair.

Meanwhile, the Radhamadhav Committee Nepal has donated relief materials to 50 households which suffered worst in the flooding. Likewise, the damaged suspension bridge at Yangri is being repaired, said the local people.
