Opposition call for budget session

BIRATNAGAR: The opposition parties in Province no. 1 have demanded that the budget session of the provincial assembly be called.

At a joint conference held at the provincial parliament secretariat today, they demanded that the budget for the new fiscal year 2078/79 be introduced through the parliament, and not through an ordinance.
On the occasion, NC parliamentary party leader Rajiv Koirala said the government was preparing to present the budget without pre-budget discussion.

Likewise, CPN (Maoist Centre) parliamentary party leader Indra Bahadur Angbo accused the government of bringing the budget through an ordinance to avoid the policy and program.

The opposition parties, also including Janata Samajbadi Party and Federal Democratic National Forum, released a joint statement today calling for the introduction of the provincial government’s policy and program, and to bring the budget through the parliament.
