372 Nepalis die from COVID-19 abroad in past one year



KATHMANDU: A total of 372 Nepali nationals have died from COVID-19 in various 21 countries abroad in the past one year.

According to Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), 23 Nepalis died from COVID-19 in the last one week.

Twenty Nepalis died in India, two in Kuwait and one in Qatar in the past one week, according to Dr Sanjeep Sapkota, the coordinator of the health committee under the NRNA.

Ten Nepalis died in New Delhi and other 10 in parts of India. The number of deaths from the pandemic is increasing, of late, with the spike in coronavirus cases in various states of India.

Those who died from the virus are below 50 years of age. As many as 245 out of 372 who died in 21 countries are from the Gulf countries.

Currently, the number of Nepali people infected with COVID-19 in 54 countries abroad has reached 68,506 (94.6%) till date. Of them, 64,700 have recovered from the pandemic.
