KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala said that it will be a premature and ill-timed decision for the NC to talk about joining or leading a government.

Speaking at a picnic program organized by Nepal Civil Service Employees’ Union Biratnagar, NC’s influencing leader Dr. Koirala reiterated that NC should not join the government as the people have given NC the mandate to perform its duty as the main opposition party for five years.

“People gave us the mandate to execute our role as the opposition party for five years, hence, rather than bothering about the government we have to focus on the general convention of the party,” Dr. Koirala said in the gathering adding, “Unless Nepal Communist Party is formally divided, NC should not advocate for any.”

Claiming that the civil service employees are ill-treated in terms of their ideology, he warned the government not to trouble the civil service employees for their democratic conviction.
