Central security committee convenes: Security during NA election discussed



KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Central Security Committee on Sunday reviewed and analyzed various security concerns relating to the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election and overall situation of peace and order in the country.

The meeting chaired by Minister of Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand was called to discuss on ensuring safety and security in the NA’s upcoming election to be held on January 26 next year for 19 posts. Eight polling stations and 14 voting centers have been designated for the NA election.

Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Tek Narayan Pandey shared that the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs also dwelt on multifaceted aspects of security arrangement in the local level election as well.

In attendance in the meeting were Secretary at the Ministry of Defense Begendra Sharma Poudyal, Home Ministry Secretary Pandey, Nepali Army’s Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Chettri and Armed Police Force’s Inspector General Shailendra Khanal.

Also present in the meeting were National Investigation Department Chief Ganesh Prasad Adhikari, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Mukunda Niraula and Spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs Pradeep Koirala among others.
