Petition filed at DMLI to investigate graft allegations against Chief Justice Rana

KATHMANDU: A complaint has been filed against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana at the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI).

Civil society leader and medical reformist Prof. Dr. Govinda KC, on behalf of Civil Society Movement, filed a petition at DMLI demanding investigation against Chief Justice Rana on money laundering charges.

The department has been urged to thoroughly investigate various allegations of corruption leveled against CJ Rana. The petition also demanded a probe into people close to CJ Rana, including his relatives, judges, staff and professional mediators working with him.

The petition reads, “Urging to accept this petition, we would like to draw your attention to the news and other information published till date related to anomalies in judiciary under CJ Rana’s discretion and promptly initiate a probe to identify offense and take necessary action such as seizing the property and punishing those involved in the offense.”

The petition also cited the report prepared by Supreme Court Justice Hari Krishna Karki as a probable cause for investigation into the chief justice.
