Janakpur people protest demanding operation of railway service

JANAKPURDHAM: Locals have protested in Dhanusha demanding immediate operation of railway service on Friday.

Stating that the railway service would play a key role in deepening Nepal-India relations and attracting Indian religious tourism, the protestors demanded speedy operation of the railway service.

According to sources, the locals and leaders of various parties took part in the protests organized in Khajuri of Janakandani village municipality.

The agitation was led by local Manoj Kumar Sah.

“The agitation is aimed at pressuring the government to run the railway even before Sitaram’s wedding anniversary,” Sah said.

Meanwhile, the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Nepal, the main opposition party in Province 2, demanded that the Janakpurdham-Jayanagar railway should be launched before Lord Ram-Sita’s wedding anniversary.

Handing over a memorandum to Dhanusha Chief District Officer Bandhu Prasad Bastola, the leaders of LSP demanded to operate the railway service.

Speaking at the program, LSP leaders Umesh Mandal and Brisesh Chandra Lal claimed that the railway service would play a positive role in boosting religious tourism and the economy of Janakpur.
