UML Chair Oli questions Prachanda’s inability to manage ex-combatants

“UML will emerge as the largest party again”

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has said that the CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has failed to manage the ex-combatants.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of UML’s 10th General Convention, Chairman Oli accused Prachanda of making bargaining showing the cadres and ex-combatants rather than addressing their genuine concerns.

He challenged Prachanda to resolve the problems related to the injured and ex-combatants of the war Maoist Center launched before.

“Why do you not give final touch to the peace process? Why don’t you pay attention to the management and treatment of ex-combatants even though you are in government?” UML Chairman Oli asked Prachanda, adding, “Distributing 10,000 rupees to sycophants never resolves the problem.”

He urged Prachanda to show the power to manage combatants. Oli also said that UML would now manage the ex-combatants. Oli also accused the Maoists of forgetting the combatants and appointing their relatives as mayors and ministers.

Chairman Oli also claimed that CPN-UML will once again emerge as the largest party from the upcoming elections.

“We are waiting for the elections to prove our strength,” Oli said.

He said his party will then endeavor to fulfill its slogan of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali” by forming a government.

Oli also said that any problems, including border disputes with neighbors, including India should be resolved on the basis of understanding.

“We issued a new map incorporating Lipu Lekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani, which we need to bring it back through talks,” he added.
