CJ Rana should put in papers for damage control: Constitutional expert Acharaya

KATHMANDU: Constitutional expert Bhimarjun Acharya has said that Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana should resign to prevent further damage to the judiciary.

Speaking at a discussion program organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Tuesday, Acharya said though CJ Rana was given frequent chances for remedy, the situation was the same. He suggested that the CJ Rana should provide solution for damage control in the court.

Acharya claimed that there had never been such malpractice, corruption and irregularities in the court. “Groupism has been practiced in the judiciary. The CJ began to assign cases that were of interest to him to benches in his favor. He started to protect his groups, and discarded the rest.”
