Ruling coalition urges PM Deuba to take immediate decision on Ordinance



KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to take an immediate decision on the ordinance on political parties and expand the cabinet at the earliest.

A meeting of the top leaders of the ruling parties held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Sunday morning emphasized the need to expand the Council of Ministers immediately, a party leader said.

The ruling coalition is in a controversy whether or to withdraw the ordinance on political parties, or to bring a replacement bill.

The government has tabled the ordinance in the House of Representatives with the support of Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist.

However, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has stated that the Council of Ministers should not be expanded as long as the ordinance remains in force.

The Supreme Court (SC) has already refused to issue an interim order in the writ petition against the ordinance.
