Heavy rain forecast in five provinces; monsoon to remain active until Sunday



KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has predicted heavy rains in five provinces of the country on Saturday.

According to a weather issued by the MFD this morning, light to moderate rains will occur in many parts of the country today.

Heavy rainfall amid thunderstorms will occur in Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh and Lumbini Pradesh today, according to the bulletin.

Currently, the rain is occurring in various places including the Kathmandu Valley, said Pratibha Manandhar, a meteorologist.

“Light rains will occur across the country and heavy rains are predicted in a few places of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh and Lumbini Pradesh,” said Manandhar.

The Kathmandu Valley will witness a heavy rainfall today afternoon.

Similarly, light to moderate rains are expected in many places of the country tonight. Heavy rains are forecast in one or two places of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2 and Lumbini Pradesh.

The monsoon will remain active today and tomorrow.
