Don’t jeopardize public health for petty party interest: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the government not to jeopardize the health of the people merely to fulfil the UML’s faction interest.

Issuing a statement on Monday, Prachanda urged the government to pay attention to the health of the people and prorogue programs like laying foundation stone and inaugurations as corona virus could create a dire situation in the country.

“Instead of focusing on providing relief to the people by making health care system more effective, the government’s focus is on laying the foundation stone and inaugurations,” his statement said, adding, “It has raised fear among the people that they might face an embarrassing moment soon.”

Prachanda has urged the government to make proper arrangements for health equipment and supplies in all local bodies identifying their priorities.

He has appealed the government as well as the private sector to provide food and other special assistance to the working people as the latter are the worst affected in such crisis.

He has also urged his party leaders and cadres to join the fight against the coronavirus epidemic as volunteers.
